In Uruguay, run-away domestic pigs that have mixed with wild pigs are multiplying so rapidly, they are being considered a plague. The reason: They make off with young sheep that are raised by the thousands on the pampas there.
However, in the film "Animal Invasion," shown on German television on Nov. 15, 2001, biologists pointed out that originally wild pigs did not hunt down sheep to the same extent. And in Australia, it has been determined that house pets that have gone wild exhibit an aggressive and destructive behavior more often than their "wild" relatives. Could it perhaps be that the former house pets have adopted human behavior patterns to a large extent? When a human being then corners them, these behavior patterns break out.
